About Us

Beginning in 2023, I was on a mission to grow more native plants in my yard to help bring back native pollinator species. These flowers and insects have evolved together to provide each other what they need to thrive. Pollinators are not just important for maintaining wild ecosystems, but are also necessary to help grow the food that we eat.

While I was looking for native seeds to plant in my garden, I kept running into the same problem; big box stores didn't carry native seeds or plants, and local nurseries had small selections. When I was able to find a company that sold native seed mixes for North America, the seeds I received included several non-native species.

That was when I knew I needed to do something. I started Taproot to create a brand that is transparent about our seed mix, containing only native species and combining my love of native plants with my love of art to bring a new spin on planting a native garden.

Clay seed bombs have been used since ancient Egyptian times as a way to protect seeds from being carried away by wind and critters. With our seed bombs and seed melts, we provide the easiest solution to native gardening, just drop and go. The 100% natural air dry clay washes away as you water the seeds, and leaves behind a native plant that evolved specifically to grow in the Midwest.

Please, join me in our goal of restoring native ecosystems. Together we can bring back vital pollinators.
